Antony to present DRDO awards tomorrow

Defence Minister A K Antony will confer Air Commodore R Gopalaswami (retd) with the life time achievement award in the DRDO awards-2010 function here tomorrow.

"Air Commodore R Gopalaswami (retd) would be conferred with the Life Time Achievement Award for development of liquid rocket engines for missiles," DRDO officials said here today.

Defence Research and Development Organisation awards, given under 11 different categories, are presented every year to scientists and research teams for outstanding contribution in advancement of military technology.

The Silicon Trophy for the Best Systems Laboratory would be given to Hyderabad-based Research Centre Imarat for developing Ballistic Missile Defence System.

"The Titanium Trophy would be given to Defence Lab Jodhpur for its contribution in the area of camouflage and low observable technologies for Armed Forces and critical defence equipment," the officials said.
