The salient features of steno graphers (GRADE-C and D )EXAMINATIONS 2010-SSC







Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will be advertising



Stenographers [Grade-‘C’ and Grade-‘D’ ] EXAMINATION, 2010 on



25th June 2010. This will mark the second stage of Examination



Reforms in the Commission. As in the two previous examinations



i.e. Combined Graduate Level Examination,2010 and SAS



Apprentice in CGDA Examination,2010, facility for submission of



ON-Line Application will be available for this examination also.





The Second administrative Reforms Commission (2nd ARC) has



made extensive recommendations in its report on SSC’s selection



process in order to enable it to complete the recruitment cycle within



reasonable time. Extensive use of objective type testing was also



recommended in order to cut down the delay in evaluation, to eliminate



bias and to infuse further objectivity into the selection process. SSC



constituted an Expert Group under the chairmanship of Director, Indian



institute of Public Administration, with members drawn from IIT, Delhi,



IIM, Ahmadabad, Institute of Banking Personnel Selection, Mumbai,



National Productivity Council, and private sector, with the approval of the



Government of India, to consider the recommendations of the 2nd ARC



and advise on various terms of reference relating to the entire gamut of



selection processes adopted by SSC. Based on the advice of the Expert



Group, SSC has restructured its examinations, with the approval of



Government.





The salient features of Stenographers [Grade-‘C’ and ‘D’ ]





Examination, 2010 are :





i. This is a separate Examination for Stenographers with emphasis



on stenography skills.



ii. The Examination will consist of two tiers



Tier-I – Written Examination (Objective Type) – 200 marks 2



hours.



Tier-II- Skill Test in Stenography in English/ Hindi and basic



computing skill.

iii. The Written Examination will have only one objective type( multiple



choice) question paper which will be amenable to machine



scanning and quicker and more objective evaluation.



iv. The written examination will be utilized for short listing candidates



for the second tier and for final ranking along with marks in



Skill Test in Tier-II.



v. Candidate applying for both the posts will need to submit only a



single application with single examination fee.



vi. Entire recruitment cycle is proposed to be completed in 9-12



months from the date of the advertisement.
