AIKMS demands to abolish caste based reservation

All India Kshtriya Maha Sabha (AIKMS) has appealed to all political parties to rise above the vote bank politics and abolish caste based reservations.

The caste based reservations are against the spirit of the constitution, which affirms that "there will be no discrimination on the basis of caste, sex, religion and place of birth", working president of the Maha Sabha Mahender Singh Tanwar told reporters here today.

"The Supreme Court of India has in a number of judgements defended these provisions, but the framer of the constitution were not in favour of caste based reservation", Tanwar said quoting a letter, written by the then Prime Minister Jawahar Lal Nehru to chief ministers in late 50s, from a book written by noted journalist and writer Arun Shourie.

He demanded the government should immediately take out 'creamy layer' out from the ambit of reservations.
