5 LAKH BELOW POVERTY LINE FAMILIES WILL GET HEALTH INSURANCE IN HARYANA

Over 5 lakh BPL families get health insurance in Haryana

Chandigarh, Oct 10 (PTI) To provide affordable healthcare to people living Below Poverty Line, Haryana government has provided health insurance cover to 5.47 lakh BPL families in the state, an official spokesman said here today.

The benefit was provided to the families under Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana during last financial year and beneficiaries of the scheme utilised medical benefits worth Rs 22.16 crore during last financial year, he said.

He said under the scheme, BPL families were provided free healthcare insurance cover upto Rs 30,000 per annum on floater basis upto five members of a family, he said.

Haryana had earned the distinction of being first state in the country to extend the scope of RSBY to provide medical insurance cover to the registered building and other construction workers and their families through the Health Insurance Plan (HIP), he claimed.
