AP govt employees threaten agitation

Andhra Pradesh government employees today threatened to undertake an agitation if their demands for health insurance and others are not accepted.

"If the government continues with its same negligent attitude, we will decide whether to issue a strike notice, undertake indefinite strike, lighting strike or indefinite hunger strike. We will announce on that day," K Swami Goud, leader of Telangana Non-Gazetted Officers Association, told reporters.

The employees unions would hold protests here next month, he said, adding they met state Chief Secretary S V Prasad over their demands.

The unions demand health insurance and 20 per cent House Rent Allowance (HRA) among other things.

The unions have held discussions with the Cabinet sub-committee earlier but expressed disappointment over the ministers not accepting their major demands.
